Learning & then Driving a Car in Delhi
I am in my early thirties and its been little late for me to learn driving. Though it never too late to start anything good in life, so I did started to learn driving a vehicle in my case it Car in Delhi. And the sole reason for this was that I had booked the Hatchback and didn't know the ABC of driving. So I booked the Car to be delivered in Dec 25, 2011. I started driving on December 8th and the very first day I drove quite well. However I soon realised that the instructor is controlling the car at the time while I was learning to drive, so I did this for 10 days and then the training was over. I had negligible confidence on Road, though I went to take the delivery of the Car, it was Sunday and I thought the traffic will be low on the roads and I will drive the car back home. However I couldn't drive the car and sales man drove the car to my home. Then I practiced on Sundays as that was my only off from working week. Then after around a month on January 27 I thought of driving the car to office I left from home around 8 am and started driving the car, I was little confident that I will drive well.
However I struck when I had to handle the stopping of car on upward ramp and there I had to use the handbrake to help myself. Then I did reach office somehow and thanked God for helping me thru this. And then days work finished and I started getting out of the office and had butterflies in my stomach, a thought of leaving the car at office and going back by metro ran thru my mind. But I thought of giving a try. I was driving well though was feeling angry about people on road who had no sense of lane driving. As they sniffed that I am naive driver on road then took advantage of that and overtook me several times. However I nevermind that and reached home while sticking to extreme right side of the road. I reached home safely and thanked God again.
So this way I drove to office everyday and learnt driving and now the time has come when I am overtaking the people driving on road and feeling angry if somebody in front of me is driving slowly.
So I just want to tell every Delhite driving on road or walking on road that not every driver on road is expert, so please drive carefully.
